Donald Kenneth McDowell, 75, of Cowpens, SC, died Monday, April 16, 2018, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born December 14, 1942, in Campobello, SC, he was the son of the late Clarence William McDowell and Julia Eubanks McDowell. A graduate of Spartanburg High School and SC Army National Guard veteran, Mr. McDowell retired in 1993 as an investigator with the City of Spartanburg Public Safety Department after 28 years of service. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Dianne Crocker McDowell; daughter, Joy McDowell Gossett (John) of Cowpens, SC; six grandchildren, Clay Jackson, Tori, John Jr., Vince, Camp, and Hank Gossett, plus a soon-to-be granddaughter; brothers, William "Bill" C. McDowell (Connie) and Michael E. McDowell, all of Spartanburg, SC; and aunt, Elizabeth McDowell of Inman, SC. A service honoring his memory will be conducted at 6:30 PM Friday, April 20, 2018, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by The Rev. Clyde Hardin and The Rev. Dr. Jason Metcalf. Visitation will follow the service at the Chapel.
