Zora Waddell

March 28, 1923 — April 13, 2009

Zora Elizabeth Brown Waddell, 86, of Spartanburg, formerly of Cowpens, died Monday, April 13, 2009, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born March 28, 1923, in Laurens County, SC, she was the daughter of the late David and Teni Bradley Brown and was raised by an aunt and uncle, Francis and Posey Grubbs of Woodruff. She was the wife of the late Woodrow Waddell. She was retired from Owens Mill and was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church. Survivors include a son, Ronald D. Waddell and his wife Evelyn of Spartanburg; a daughter, Shirley L. Waddell of Spartanburg; a sister, Edna Tolliver of Columbia; three grandsons, Terry Owens and his wife Janet of Mt. Pleasant, Rev. Brian Waddell and his wife Lisa, and Scott Waddell and his wife Angie, all of Spartanburg; four granddaughters, Rhonda Yerkes, and Angie Tessnear and her husband Mark, all of Spartanburg, Alisa Gilmore and her husband Jay, and Janet Sellars and her husband Brian, all of Boiling Springs; sixteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Harold R. Waddell; two sisters, Minnie Wilson and Mary Ward; and a brother, Johnny Brown. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2009, in Daniel Morgan Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. Angelia P. Price and the Rev. Brian Waddell. The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Zora Waddell Memorial Fund, P. O. Box 1530, Spartanburg, SC 29304.
