Y'Kok Ksor, 74, of Spartanburg, South Carolina, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, January 9, 2019, after a battle with liver cancer. Born February 26, 1944, in Cheo Reo, Gia Lai Province, in the Central Highlands of Vietnam, he was the son of the late H'Ble Ksor. Y'Kok Ksor was a devoted husband, father and grandfather as well as a prominent political activist. Ksor is a member of the Jarai ethnic group and fought with U. S. Army Special Forces during the war in Vietnam, where he was awarded multiple honors for his bravery, including the Purple Heart. Y'Kok was President of the Degar Foundation, Inc., an organization whose mission is to preserve the lives, rights and culture of the Montagnard people. He was an ordained pastor, a devout Christian and member of Covenant Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, H'li Ksor; his four sons, Thomas Ksor, Daniel Ksor, Dr. John Ksor, Dr. Jonathan Ksor; his two daughter-in-laws, Dr. Marsheila Ksor and Tammy Ksor; his seven grandchildren, Hannah and Hayleigh, daughters of Daniel Ksor from a prior marriage, Mary H'li, Y'Kok Bajaraka (namesake of the deceased), Caroline Neihrahla and Y'Yohan Toeh, children of Dr. John and Marsheila Ksor, and Rebecca, the youngest, is the child of Daniel and Tammy Ksor. Family and friends are invited 3:00-7:00 PM Saturday, January 12, 2019, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307 to reminisce, grieve and support each other. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 13, 2019, at Covenant Baptist Church, 200 Evangel Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29301, by The Rev. Gary Hensley and The Rev. Skip Purdy. A committal service will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
