Winfred Heyward Kimbrell, 86, formerly of Spartanburg, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 14, 2022, at Richard Campbell Veteran’s Nursing Home in Anderson. He was born on January 10, 1936 in the Beaumont community of Spartanburg, a son of the late Willie Webb and Hattie Kat Daniels Kimbrell.
Winfred was a veteran of the US Army having served in the 82nd Airborne Division. He was a longtime employee of Butte Knit and later worked with Rexam and Stouffer’s Foods. Winfred was a member of the Shriners and the American Legion Post 200 of Boiling Springs. A hard worker, he deeply loved his family and enjoyed fishing and skydiving.
Surviving are his loving wife of 59 years, Viola Elder Kimbrell; his sons, Barry Kimbrell (Mindy) and Jerry Kimbrell (Marcella), all of Spartanburg; his grandchildren, Ian Kimbrell (Kailey) and Morgan Kimbrell; his step-grandchildren, Nikki Compton and Neely Mascara; and his step-great-grandchildren, Parker Compton and Gino Mascara.
The family will receive friends 1:00-1:45 pm Friday, January 21, 2022, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m., conducted by Chaplain Mike Linkins. Burial, with Military Honors rendered by American Legion Post 200, will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
The family will be at their respective homes.
