Wilma Melton Tapp, 86, of Spartanburg, died Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born May 25, 1922, in Polk County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Mae Colley Melton and the wife of the late Huie H. Tapp. She was retired from Whitney Mill and was a member of Beaumont Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Larry Tapp and his wife Barbara of Startex, and Ken Tapp of Kernersville, NC; three daughters, Barbara Pacelli and her husband Phil, and Kathryn "Kathy" Johnson, all of Spartanburg, and Mildred "Micky" Caldwell of Columbia, TN; a sister, Thelma Hannon of Inman; a brother, Robert "R. J. Melton of Spartanburg; fourteen grandchildren; and twenty-six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, James H. Tapp; a great-grandson, Taylor Dunn; three sisters, Ruby Melton, Irene Johnson, and Alma Spicer; and two brothers, Woodrow and William Melton. Visitation will be 12:30-1:45 p.m. Saturday, May 2, 2009, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel conducted by the Rev. John Cox and the Rev. Rupert E. Guest. Burial will be in Walnut Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303; or to Beaumont Baptist Church Building Fund, 945 Beaumont Avenue Ext., Spartanburg, SC 29303.
