Willie Mae "Bill" Clayton, 89, of 201 Chenoweth Drive, Simpsonville, SC and formerly of Spartanburg, SC, died Saturday, February 8, 2014, at her home. Born December 12, 1924, in Campobello, SC, she was a daughter of the late William Gowen Clayton, Sr. and Laura Jeanette King Clayton, and the widow of John Edward Clayton, Sr. She graduated from Campobello High School and was retired from Beaumont Mills in Spartanburg. She loved to cross stitch and was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, where she loved teaching Sunday school and was a member of the Dorcas Sunday school class. "Bill" was the loving mother of a son, John Clayton, Jr. (Karen) of Simpsonville; grandmother of John Daniel Clayton (Trisha) of Aberdeen, MD, David William Clayton (Amy) of Columbia, SC, and Nathaniel Easley Clayton (Jennifer) of Simpsonville; great-grandmother of Caroline, Abigail, and Gabriel. Additional survivors include brothers, John Ervin Clayton (Karen), Harley Clayton (Doris), and Marvin Clayton (Audrey); sister, Joyce Farmer (David). Visitation will be 11:00-11:45 AM on Monday, February 10, 2014, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 noon at the chapel. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307. The family will be at the home of John and Karen Clayton.
