William "Bill" Wilkinson

William Robert Wilkinson, 92, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away in his sleep on May 11, 2021.

A former ballet dancer at American Ballet Theater in New York, Bill was an enthusiastic supporter of the arts in Spartanburg. He served as president of Ballet Spartanburg, a board member of the Spartanburg Philharmonic, and numerous professional organizations during his 40 years in New York City.

After his stint at the Ballet in New York, Bill pursued a career as a public relations official and fundraiser for such non-profits as Lighthouse for the Blind. He received his Master’s Degree at New York University.

Bill leaves behind his brother, David Wilkinson of Marietta, GA, his wife Zina; nephew, Jay and partner of 15 years, Robert Bellinger.

Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 PM Monday, May 17, 2021 at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spartanburg Philharmonic, or Ballet Guild of Spartanburg Inc., 200 East Saint John Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306.
