William Eugene “Bill” Williams, 89, of Spartanburg, SC, died Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at Summit Hills. Born August 27, 1931 in Huntsville, AL, he was the son of the late Lawrence W. Williams and Jennie L. Wright Williams.
A Ret. U. S. Navy Veteran, Mr. Williams received a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Georgia. He was also retired from the Medical College of Georgia where he was head of the Dental Laboratory. He loved University of Georgia football, Alabama football, and above all else his wife of 30 years. He was a member of First Baptist Spartanburg.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Sharpton Williams; sons, Steve Williams (Rene Childree) of Statesboro, GA, and Richard Williams (Cindi) of Rock Hill, SC; step-son, Alan Nelms (Beth) of North Augusta, SC; step-daughters, Anita Greco (Ed) of Irmo, SC and Lisa Murphy (Keith) of Spartanburg, SC; three grandsons; six step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and two step-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Joice Laverne Padgett Williams.
Private graveside services will be held Monday, May 10, 2021, in Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, SC 29229, conducted by The Rev. Richard Humphries. Mask and social distancing are required.
