William "Bill" Ernest West, 84, of Spartanburg, SC, died Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at his home. Born October 7, 1930, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late William Alvis West and Annie Smith West Taylor. A U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War, Mr. West was a member of Glenn Springs Presbyterian Church where he was an elder emeritus. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening and also loved to fish. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be missed by many. Survivors include his beloved wife of 62 years, Annie Laurie West; children, Ricky West (Pat) and Janet Vassey (John), all of Glenn Springs, SC; grandchildren, Sandy Bishop (Chad), Brandy LeGrand (Anthony), Julie Crisp (Bobby), Eric West, and Danny Vassey; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Crisp, Wesley Bishop, Abby Bishop, Kinsley LeGrand, and Karsyn LeGrand. He was predeceased by three brothers, John West, Marvin West, and Jim West; and grandson, Brad Vassey. Visitation will be 7:00-9:00 PM Friday, June 5, 2015, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, June 6, 2015, at Glenn Springs Presbyterian Church, 6001 Hwy 215, Pauline, SC 29374, by the Rev. Dr. B. E. Pettit. Burial will be in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Glenn Springs Presbyterian Church Cemetery Enhancement Fund, PO Box 279, Pauline, SC 29374.
