William Walker, Jr.

William Prentiss Walker, Jr., 90, of Spartanburg, died Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at his home. He was the son of the late William Prentiss and Charlotte Harrall Walker, and husband of, his wife of 50 years, the late Lucy Frank Gardner Walker. Mr. Walker was a lifetime member of The Episcopal Church of the Advent. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from Wofford College and attended N. C. State University. He was also a World War II veteran of the U. S. Navy. He retired from a career in the textile industry as a Chemical Development Engineer, in the field of Textile Dyeing and Finishing, after many years in North Carolina, as well as years at Milliken Research. Following his retirement, he worked in Real Estate in Spartanburg. Survivors include his four children, Bill Walker, Chris Walker (Mary Pat), Randy Walker (Joy), and Ann Rickard; his grandsons, Chris and Mike Rickard; and his granddaughters, Katie Sullivan (Jim), and Molly Cashman (Jeff). A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, June 10, 2011 at The Episcopal Church of the Advent, conducted by The Rev. J. Edward Morris. Entombment will follow in the Bell Tower Columbarium. The family will receive friends at the home of Mary Pat & Chris Walker, 210 Fernwood Dr., Spartanburg, on Thursday evening.
