William "Bill" Adkins Walker, 69, of Spartanburg, SC, husband and sweetheart of Martha Foster Walker, passed away into his long awaited new life on Monday, July 1, 2013, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born August 1, 1943, in Gastonia, NC, he was the beloved son of the late Rebbeca Lynch Ellison and step-son of the late Claude Ellison. During the Vietnam War, he served with the famed 1ST Calvary Division (Air Mobile) where he took part in combat operations against this nation's enemy. He was awarded the Combat Infantryman's Badge for Repeated Contact with Enemy Forces. Mr. Walker was a retired engineer with Parker Hannifin Corporation where he was employed for 29 years. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, surviving are daughters, Angela Walker Sullivan of Simpsonville, SC, and Rachel Walker Claunan of Boiling Springs, SC; sisters, Becky Walker Norwood of Spartanburg, SC, and Claudia Walker Allen of Greenville, SC; his best friend and son-in-law, Jay Sullivan of Simpsonville, SC, and son-in-law, Leonard L. Claunan Jr. of Boiling Springs, SC. Mr. Walker's grandsons, Jacob and Jason Sullivan, Leo Claunan, and William Carrouth, were loved by him very much. He will be waiting for them, and the rest of his family, on the other side of life as they seek the grace of God. At Bill's request, no services will be conducted.
