Floyd's North Church Street Chapel Remembering Bill Scott We are thankful to God for the legacy of love and good humor that Daddy/Bill left us. When we think of Daddy/Bill, we will remember that he was - *Truthful. Never told a lie. Even when a little "white" lie would have been easier. Never deceitful. *Loyal - took care of Nita with Lou Gehrig's disease for 8 years. *Intelligent - figured out all about the ventilator that she was on and how to keep it working. *Optimistic - no matter how bad the situation - as June once said, "he knew how to make lemonade out of lemons" *Encouraging and affectionate. He said, "I love you" often. As one grandchild said, he never seemed in a bad mood. He was always glad to be with you and liked your hugs. He was playful. *An avid reader. He liked westerns - where the good guys won over evil. *Fond of the Book of Ephesians in the Bible because he said it told you how to live the Christian life. One of the verses he liked was: 2:4-5. "But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions - it is by grace you have been saved." *Tolerant - He was not judgmental. *Energized - As one grandchild said, "He was excited to start the day!" Another said, "he lived life with GUSTO! "HUBBA-HUBBA-HUBBA!" *Patriotic - He said he was proud to be an American. He said he was glad that he was able to serve in WWII. He never talked about it much until the last two years. It really pleased him though to finally receive the Bronze Star and the Combat Infantryman Badge 1st Award. *Generally, happy - he would often sing in the shower or go through the house singing or humming (Sometimes LOUD!) In fact, the last several days he had singing "Are ye able?" said the Master. *Trustworthy - You could count on him to keep his word. You could count on him to be punctual too. *Artistic - He had an eye for color and design and he loved to paint. He loved colorful flowers. *A good conversationalist - He liked to hear what the other person had to say. He said you could always get someone to talk if you asked them where they were from. *Strong: in wit, in humor, in ingenuity, in loving, in stamina-in many ways. *A provider and protector - He gave his family TIME. He listened and he played. He played games - children's games, adult games, he danced, he played sports. He was always there to help his children, his grandchildren, or his great-grandchildren. We were all blessed. *Not perfect - but, as June said this week, he was a good man. We loved him. We celebrate his life with gratitude and appreciation for who he was and for the memories we have of him, the life lessons that he left behind. P.S. *He really, really loved to eat "poppy-corn"!!!!!!
