William Gerald Rogers, 88, of Spartanburg, SC entered into eternal rest Sunday, July 18, 2021 at his home. Born November 20, 1932 in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late Fred Winslow Rogers and Margaret Lucille Elledge Rogers, and husband of the late Shirley Johnson Rogers.
A U. S. Navy Veteran, Mr. Rogers was a retired Detective with the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Department and a member of Wellford Baptist Church. He loved golf and tinkering with cars.
Survivors include his daughter, Kim Rogers Ballard of the home; son-in-law, Charles Ballard of Pinehurst, NC; granddaughter, Brandy Robertson (John); and two great-granddaughters, Lyla Robertson and Lydia Robertson. He was predeceased by a son, Gerald Wayne Rogers and brother, Edmund Rogers.
Visitation will be held 12:30-1:30 PM Thursday, July 22, 2021 at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307 with funeral services following at 2:00 PM in the Chapel conducted by The Rev. Carl Poole and Mr. Fred Coan. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Breaking Bread for Jesus Soup Kitchen, c/o Wellford Baptist Church, 235 Syphrit Road, Wellford, SC 29385.
The family would like to express their appreciation to his special niece, Crissy Rogers for all of her love and care.
