William Rives

William Christopher Rives, 40, of Campobello, SC, died Thursday, January 8, 2015, at his home. Born July 18, 1974, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of Joseph Lee and Paula Roberts Rives of Campobello. Mr. Rives loved all things outdoors, working with his hands, spending time with his family and friends, and his best friend, Buddy. He was a huge University of Alabama football fan "Roll Tide". He attended North Georgia Technical Institute, was a mechanic and machinist, and a member of First Baptist Church of Spartanburg. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother, Joseph Lee Rives Jr. of Campobello; his adored niece, Jessica Leigh Rives of Campobello; faithful caregiver, Gwen Smith; and numerous cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, Mark Robert Rives. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 PM Monday, January 12, 2015, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Rev. Sal Barone and the Rev. Matthew Bishop. Visitation will follow the service. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
