William R. "Bill" Padgett, Jr., 82, of 4899 Woodfall Drive, Lilburn, GA died Saturday, September 25, 2010, at Emory Eastside Medical Center. Born February 3, 1928, in the Fairmont Community of Spartanburg County, he was the son of the late Rev. William R. Padgett, Sr. and Lugina Fortenberry Padgett. He was a retired manager from BellSouth Telephone Company with forty years of service, and in 1965, he received the Community Living Award. He was a member of Rehoboth Baptist Church in Tucker, GA and a former member, Deacon, and Chairman of Deacons at Green Street Baptist Church in Spartanburg. He was president of Fremont PTA, was awarded a lifetime membership in S.C. PTA, and was a U. S. Navy veteran. Survivors include his wife of sixty-two years, Lucille Toney Padgett; two daughters, Janice Padgett and Gail Padgett both of Lilburn, GA; three sisters, Edna Lewis and Flora Jolly both of Chesnee, and Sarah Roberson of Greer; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Lillie Mae Bryans. Visitation will be 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Graveside services will follow at 1:30 PM in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Thomas Moore.
