William Ty Oxley, 57, of 139 Cherrywood Road, died Thursday, June 10, 2010 at Spartanburg Hospital for Restorative Care. Born April 16, 1953 in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of Faye Kent Oxley of Spartanburg and the late William Joe Oxley. Ty was one of "The Original 16" employees of Spartanburg County Emergency Medical Services. He retired as a sergeant after 19 years with the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office. After his retirement, he continued to work for Spartanburg County with positions at the Spartanburg County Detention Facility and Magistrate Court. He was a member of River Hills Baptist Church and Arcadia Masonic Lodge # 285. Survivors include his wife, Susan Morgan Oxley; two daughters, Lindsay Blanton and husband Justin of Greenville and Lisa Riddle and husband Joshua of Lyman; and a sister, Donna Johnson and husband Tom of Moore. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 13, 2010 at River Hills Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. C. Kent Smith. Visitation will follow the service at the church.
