William Nelson, Jr.

William Edward "Ted" Nelson, Sr. 83, formerly of Spartanburg, died Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at Richard M. Campbell Veteran's Nursing Home, Anderson, SC. Born September 18, 1927 in Spartanburg County, he was the son of the late Willie Sherman and Emma Wyatt Nelson and husband of the late Elma Stepp Nelson. He was retired from Glenco and a life time member of Powell Presbyterian Church. Survivors include a son, William Edward Nelson, Jr. of Greensburg, PA; two daughters, Joan McGinnis of Spartanburg and Janelle Spigel of Lancaster, SC; a brother, Charles Nelson of Spartanburg; a sister, Helen Dill of Moore; and seven grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Sunday, October 17, 2010 in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Dr. David A. Renwick. Visitation will follow the service at the graveside. The family is at the home of his daughter, Joan McGinnis, 233 Watervale Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29301.
