William Neal

William "Cliff" Neal, age 78, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2016, after a courageous battle with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia. Born September 17, 1938 in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late William Gordon and Elizabeth Kennedy Neal. A loyal Clemson Tiger Fan, he enjoyed experiencing the ten years his family lived in Clemson where they enjoyed the many opportunities offered by the University, both athletic and other University special events. He retired after 42 years in the textile business, 33 of these with Milliken & Company. Cliff and Peggie were active members of First Presbyterian Church, both serving as Stephen Ministers. Reading and golf were other avocations. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Margaret Reynolds "Peggie" Neal of the home; children, Lynne Todd (Walter) of Laurens, SC; Vicki Nachman of Greenville, SC; Chip Neal (Beth) of Birmingham, AL; grandchildren, Walt Todd of Greenville, SC; Neal Todd of Greenwood, SC; Victoria Nachman of Austin, TX; Ellen Nachman of Los Angeles, CA; Lucy Neal, of Auburn, AL, Maggie Neal of Auburn, AL; Sally Neal of Birmingham, AL; Sister, Peggy Newberry of Helen, GA and brother, Edward Neal (Karen) of Spartanburg, SC. A Memorial service will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church, 393 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Tom Evans and the Rev. Joanne R. Hull. A reception will follow the service at Country Club of Spartanburg, 2500 Country Club Road, Spartanburg, SC 29302. Memorials may be made to Mobile Meals Service, P.O.
