William Moore

November 27, 1925 — June 1, 2013

William Hendee Moore, 87, of Camp Care Nursing Center, Inman, SC, died Saturday, June 1, 2013 after a brave battle against multiple health problems. Born in Charlotte, NC on November 27, 1925, he was the son of the late Charles Alfred and Fannie Martin Moore. He is also predeceased by a son, William H. Moore Jr. and a sister, Grace M. Clay. A U.S. Marine veteran of WWII, he served his country in the Pacific Theater. He was a 1953 graduate of Clemson University, working for many years as an industrial engineer in Columbus, GA and Greenville, SC. Later in his career, he worked in sales for Industrial Burners in Greenville, SC. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Spartanburg, SC. Mr. Moore is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Janice Bridges Moore; , daughter, Vicky Moore Chartier and husband, Phillip L. Chartier of Simpsonville; granddaughters, Kelly Vance and Kerry Levi; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Anne Sisler of Melbourne Beach, FL; and many nieces and nephews. He also had a special love for his three Boykin spaniels, a boxer, and numbers of hunting dogs. Bill was an avid fan of football and baseball, having played baseball while a student a Central High School in Charlotte. He enjoyed Clemson football and Atlanta Braves baseball, especially. He leaves this earthly life, meeting the loving arms of his Lord and the welcoming arms of many relatives. He had a larger-than-life personality and will be missed by those who loved him. Graveside services, with military honors, will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Schuyler Peterson and the Rev. David M. Blanton. Music will be provided by Mrs. Phyllis Brown. Visitation will be at the graveside. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 3535 Pelham Road, Suite 101, Greenville, SC 29615 or to the charity of one's choice. The family wishes to thank the many staff members at Camp Care, who provided Bill with loving care during his eight and a half year residency at the nursing facility. The family is at the home.
