William Mcdowell

William "Franklin" McDowell, 71, of Chesnee, SC, died Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born September 30, 1941, in Spartanburg County, SC, he was the son of the late Virgil "Soapy" and Maggie Bishop McDowell. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Mr. McDowell was a peach farmer, member of Cooley Springs Baptist Church, and one of the founding commissioners of Cooley Springs Fire Department. Surviving is his beloved wife, Frances Moore McDowell; sons, Michael McDowell (Suzann) of Chesnee and Craig McDowell (Sheila) of Cooley Springs; grandchildren, Clayton McDowell, Carson McDowell, Ashley Bailey, and Justin McDowell; great-granddaughter, Brook McDowell; step-grandsons, Sullivan Bishop and Garrison Bishop; and his canine companion, "Sport". He was predeceased by a stepson, Chris Bishop. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, February 21, 2013, at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday, February 22, 2013, at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel, by the Rev. Al Phillips. Burial will be in Springhill Memorial Gardens.
