William Hightower, Jr.

William C. Hightower, Jr., 88, devoted husband of Lorelei Bostic Hightower passed away January 25, 2013 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. "Bill" was born in Cliffside, NC and was the son of the late William Chapman and Josephine Janie Womick Hightower. He was a U.S Army veteran of WWII and was retired from McLean Trucking Company after 30 years of service. A self-taught craftsman of many trades, he selflessly applied his skills and assisted many people in need. He was also a voracious reader, very knowledgeable in history and always entertained with his sense of humor. Bill was loved and respected by all who knew him. He was a member of St. James United Methodist Church and was a 3rd Degree Mason, Spartan Lodge No. 70. He was the father and mentor to his children, W. C. "Bill" Hightower III (Mary Lou), Becky McElroy (Billy), and Brian Hightower (Lesia); grandfather of Robin Collier, Tammy Banfield, Christy Banfield, Heather Curtis, Lauren Hightower, and Matthew Hightower; great-grandfather of Baylei Banfield, William Banfield, Tyler Banfield, Oliver Curtis, Kaley Hirahara, Chloe Seise, Gabriel Turner, Christian Toner, and Elliott Toner. The family will receive friends at St. James United Methodist Church on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 from 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM followed by a service in the sanctuary at 3:00 PM. Entombment with military honors will follow at Floyd's Greenlawn Cemetery, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. James United Methodist Church, 213 Lanford Road, Spartanburg, SC 29301 or Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303 Floyd's North Church Street Chapel To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of William C.
