William Henderson

June 17, 1915 — October 24, 2010

William Dixon "Bill" Henderson, 95, of 309 Holly Drive, passed away Sunday, October 24, 2010 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born June 17, 1915 in Newberry County, he was the son of the late Hugh M. and Helen Hardy Henderson. He was a charter member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, worked 48 years in the Purchasing Department of the Geer Drug Company, and was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II. Bill enjoyed playing golf, studying history, yard work, fixing things and the Atlanta Braves, but most of all, he enjoyed and loved his family and friends. He is survived by his wife Eileen Deal Henderson; sister, Mary Ella Finley; stepsons, Jeffrey (Beverly)Deal and Scott Deal; stepdaughter, Lisa Deal Kimble; step grandsons, James and Jack Deal; nieces, Ann McLean, Lyn Fabacher, Cindy McGhee, Betsy Wilson and Mary Gale Zucker; nephews, Heywood Henderson and Gil Walker; and his loving pet, Kristi. He was predeceased by his first wife, Elizabeth "Lib" Elkins Henderson; sisters, Frances Moore and Addy Walker; and brothers, Hugh and Heywood Henderson. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at Covenant Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Rev. Robert H. Brozina. Visitation will follow the service at the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church, 880 W. O. Ezell Boulevard, Spartanburg, SC 29301. The family is at their respective homes.
