William Pettit

William H. Pettit, 91, of Spartanburg, died Friday, October 19, 2012. Born July 13, 1921, in Danielsville, GA, he was the son of the late Charles Olin and Nellie Mae Gober Pettit. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. A U. S. Army veteran and member of Grace Baptist Church, Mr. Pettit retired from Beaumont Mill in 1985 after 14 years of service and worked for Community Cash for 10 years. Surviving are his wife, Thelma L. Pruitt Pettit; daughters, Jane Bradley (Harold) of Lyman, SC, and Ann Peeler (Edward) of Pauline, SC; son, Ray Pettit (Cyndi) of Pacolet, SC; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother and two sisters. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, October 21, 2012, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, by the Rev. Dr. Henry Johnson. Visitation will follow at the graveside.
