William Floyd

William Calvin Floyd, 72, of Wardlaw Avenue, died Monday, November 16, 2009, at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born April 22, 1937, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late James Calvin and Virmie Lackey Floyd. He was employed at Blackman Uhler Chemical Company and later at Southern Wood Piedmont. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and attended Morningside Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Lajuan Newman Floyd; a son, William Mark Floyd and his wife Jennifer of Jacksonville, FL; two grandsons, Taylor Brian Floyd of St. Marys, GA, and William Ryan Floyd of Jacksonville, FL; and two sisters, Elizabeth Hoover and her husband Jim of Boiling Springs, and Helen Floyd of Spartanburg. He was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters. Graveside services with military rites by the SC State Guard Honors Team will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 19, 2009, at Sunset Memorial Park conducted by the Rev. Jack C. Dodd. The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside.
