William Burl Fleming, 84, of Pacolet, SC, died Saturday, March 18, 2023. Born April 11, 1938 in Pacolet Mills, SC, he was the son of the late Thomas E. and Vinela Valentine Fleming.
A U.S. Army and National Guard veteran, Mr. Fleming was retired as a Spartanburg City Fireman, after 28 years of service. He was the former owner of World of Worms and Fireman Fence.
A member of Pacolet Mills Baptist Church, he served as a Deacon for over 40 years, and served as a Sunday School teacher. Burl was also a member of Pacolet Lions Club, Lake Murray Bass Club, Pacolet Senior Bass Club, and was a Mason with Trough Shoals Masonic Lodge #228.
Burl was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Bille Ann Lee Fleming of the home; daughters, Pamela Gosnell (Ricky) and Dawn F. Harrison (Tony), all of Pacolet, SC; three grandchildren, Crystal Sullivan, Amber Meadows, and Nate Thalassenos (Jessica); four great grandchildren, Dustin Sullivan, Phoenix Thalassenos, Maddox Thalassenos and Karsyn Thalassenos. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by a grandson, Dustin Harrison and a sister, Barbara Jean Fleming.
Visitation will be 11:30 – 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at Pacolet Mills Baptist Church, 385 Stone Street, Pacolet, SC 29372. Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. at the church, conducted by The Rev. Frank Taylor and The Rev. Norman Band. Burial will follow in Pacolet Memorial Gardens, 141 Memorial Drive, Pacolet, SC 29372.
