William Bennett

William Charles "Jimmy" Bennett, 95, of Spartanburg, SC, died Monday, February 29, 2016. Born November 26, 1920, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late Columbus Frank and Effie Cothran Bennett. Mr. Bennett retired from Liberty Life Insurance after 39 years of service. He was a Mason and member of Arcadia First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Florence Coggins Bennett; daughter, Elaine Mayfield of Wellford, SC; son, Terry Bennett of Spartanburg, SC; grandsons, Mark Mayfield (Angela) of Dobson, NC and Lee Mayfield (Ann) of N. Myrtle Beach, SC; and great-grandchildren, Madeline Mayfield, Morgan Mayfield, William Mayfield, and Luke Mayfield. Visitation will be 1:00-1:45 PM Thursday, March 3, 2016, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Joey Burnett. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Arcadia First Baptist Church, PO Box 25, Arcadia, SC 29320. The family is at their respective homes.
