Wilburn Presley “Wil" Myers of Spartanburg joined his loving creator on February 24, 2023. Born in Spartanburg in 1965, Wil as a boy was an outdoors person who liked to play in the woods, learn about tools, wear Dingo boots, and ride his motorbike. He was fascinated with construction machinery, and particularly wanted to learn to operate a Bobcat earth mover.
He attended E.P. Todd Elementary School and had many friends, including his dog Rascal. In 1978 Wil was injured in an accident and for the next 43 years clung tenaciously to life in the unceasing care of his loving and devoted parents Ann and Dudley Myers.
Wil overcame many obstacles over the years and will be remembered as both a gentle spirit and a fighter who leaves his grieving family with many wonderful memories.
He is survived by his parents, Ann and Dudley Myers of Spartanburg; a brother Richard and sister-in-law Ester of Washington, DC, his caregiver Mareka Stevens of Spartanburg, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A visitation will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 2, 2023 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m., conducted by The Rev. Mareka Stevens.
