Wilbur Earl Barnes, better known as "Bud", owner-operator of W.E. Barnes Trucking and a proud United States Army veteran, passed away on February 16, 2025, at the age of 84. He was born on December 8, 1940 in Somerset, Pennsylvania,
Wilbur is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Betty W. Barnes; his two daughters, Katharine Elliott, Lisa Cole; his son, Douglas (Colette) Barnes; two sisters Nancy (Ronald) Sanor, and Bonnie (James) Diglaw. He was the grandfather to fourteen grandchildren and great-grandfather to eleven great-grandchildren. His family reflects the deep connections he nurtured throughout his life.
Wilbur will be remembered for his hard work and for the love and support he offered to those around him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lillian Gertrude Lopes Barnes and Lewis Clark Barnes and his siblings; Donald Barnes, Audrey Leapline, Leora Hughes.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Floyds Boiling Springs Chapel located at 4161 SC-9, Boiling Springs, SC 29316. Following the visitation, a funeral service will take place at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Brandon Bowers and Doug Barnes officiating. Pallbearers will include Tristan Rouse, Caleb Rouse, Zach Barnes, Mason Downer, Roy Hunsberger, Klay Jacks, and Alex Duncan. Honorary Pallbearers will be Erik Rasmussen, Keith Rasmussen, and Ron "Tink" King. Interment will be held following the service at Good Shepherd Memorial Gardens with Military Honors rendered.
Wilbur will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on through the many lives he touched and the family he loved so dearly.
