Wayne Blackwood

Wayne Blackwood, 67, of Lyman, SC, died Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born October 5, 1947, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Kedric Leon and Lavinia Newbold Blackwood. A U. S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, Mr. Blackwood was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans-DAV and American Legion. He was a graduate of Boiling Springs High School Class of 1964 and retired from the lumber industry. He was of the Episcopalian faith and attended Baptist services. He believed his purpose for life was his family. Surviving are his beloved wife of 41 years, Joyce Adams Blackwood; daughters, Brandy Owens (Sammy) of Boiling Springs, SC and Wendi Hart (Josh) of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Grace, Hailey, and Trey Owens and Gavin, and Emma Hart; brother, Francis Blackwood (Brenda) of Spartanburg, SC; sisters, Angela Ford (Gordon) of Taylors, SC and Brenda Harker (Bud) of Leesville, SC; and special caregiver, Alice Arnold. Visitation will be 1:00-1:45 PM Friday, April 24, 2015, at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel, 235 N. Church St., Spartanburg, SC 29306. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Adam Wayne Siskey. Burial, with military rites by the U. S. Army Honors Team, will be in Heritage Memorial Gardens, 3901 S. Church St., Roebuck, SC 29376. The family is at the home of Wendi and Josh Hart.
