Waylon Sasser

Waylon Marshall "Pete" Sasser, 82, of Boiling Springs, SC, died Sunday, December 2, 2012, at his home. Born March 3, 1930, in Sanford, NC, he was the son of the late Pete Marshall and Ella Yarbourgh Sasser. Mr. Sasser was a member of Skylyn United Methodist Church. He played semi-pro ball with the Boston Braves in his younger years, was an avid golfer and Duke fan. His career was in purchasing and sales of textile and mattress manufacturing equipment. Surviving are his wife, Gloria J. Sasser; sons, Mike Sasser and wife Barbara of Greensboro, NC, Ronnie Sasser of Bear Creek, NC, Jeffrey Sasser of Nashville, TN, and Richard Pascoe and wife Lou of San Diego, CA; grandchildren, Scott Sasser and wife Suzanne, Rob Sasser and wife Windy, Katie Sasser, Madison Pascoe and Julia Pascoe; great-granddaughter, Grace Elizabeth Sasser; brother, Bobby Sasser and wife Faye of Nashville, TN; sister, Peggy Woody and husband Lynn of McCleansville, NC; adopted son, Jose' Bolta of Spartanburg, SC; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Sally Campbell Sasser; and a son, Marty Pascoe. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 4, 2012, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, by the Rev. James B. Carter and the Rev. Norman L. Band. Visitation will follow at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Skylyn United Methodist Church, 1415 Skylyn Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29307; or Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
