Warren Sanders

Warren H. "Bill" Sanders, 87, died Monday, November 29, 2010, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born October 1, 1923 in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Banks and Elizabeth Sanders and the husband of the late Jo Ellen Aiken Sanders. A graduate of Boiling Springs High School, he retired in 1985 from Southern Railroad, Haynes Shop after 40 years of service and where he was a Union representative for many years. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church and the Marantha Sunday School class, a life member of Hejaz Temple, life member and past president of the Spartanburg Shrine Club, past commander of York Rite Masonic Lodge, past master of Lone Oak Masonic Lodge, and a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II. Survivors include a son, Warren John Sanders of Spartanburg; a daughter, Kathleen S. Willson and husband Thomas of Springfield, VA; a sister, Virginia Sanders of Spartanburg; and three grandchildren, Andrew, Michael, Sarah Willson of Springfield, VA. He was predeceased by a sister, Minnie S. Graham; and two brothers, Paul Sanders and W. John Sanders. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, December 5, 2010 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel with Masonic rites prior to visitation. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 6, 2010 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Robert Emory. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 901 South Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302; or to Palmetto Council, BSA, 420 South Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306.
