Wanda Sweatman

Wanda Jean Pickett Sweatman, 65, of Roebuck, SC, died Sunday, June 14, 2020, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born May 10, 1955, in Ft. Campbell, KY where her father was enlisted in the Army, she was the daughter of Geneva Fennel Pickett of Florence, SC and the late John Wesley Pickett. Raised in Florence, SC, Wanda loved fishing, gardening, crafts, sewing, crocheting, and needlepoint. She was the owner/operator of Brighteyes Pet Salon in Windermere Shopping Center in Charleston, SC in the 1980's and early 1990's. She moved to Nashville in the 1990's and worked as a groomer and veterinarian's assistant, returning to South Carolina in 2002, spending most of her life dedicated to pet care. Survivors include her husband, Elvin W. Sweatman, whom she married on December 7, 1975; brother, Freddie Pickett of Florence, SC; sisters, Barbara Capeheart of Charlotte, NC, Paula Doty of Florence, SC, Connie Matthews of Maryland, and Lyn Flechsig of Florence, SC; brother-in-law, Stanley Sweatman of Mt. Pleasant, SC; sister-in-law, Pennie Maxwell of Cope, SC; and her five year old Shih Tzu fur baby, Willow. In addition to her father, she was predeceased by her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Clara and Marcus E. Sweatman. No services are scheduled at this time.
