Wanda Holbert

Wanda Gayle Coates Holbert, 68, of Spartanburg, died Friday, September 16, 2011, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born May 16, 1943, in Spartanburg County, she was the daughter of the late Dewey Coates, Sr., is survived by her mother, Mary Howell Coates of Spartanburg, and was wife of the late Bryant Holbert, Jr. Mrs. Holbert was retired, after 25 years of service, from Phillips Fibers and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her mother, survivors include her son, Daniel Holbert of Spartanburg; daughter, Tammy Aguado and husband Rogelio of Glendale; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley White of Inman; brothers, Dewey Coates, Jr. of Atlanta, GA, Richard Coates of Gaffney, and Larry Coates of Boiling Springs. She was predeceased by her daughter, Shelia Register; and brother, John Edward Coates. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Sunday, September 18, 2011, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Monday, September 19, 2011, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, by the Rev. Kenneth Cash and the Rev. Larry W. Wilks. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. The family is at the home of her son, Daniel Holbert, 2789 Fairforest-Clevedale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29301.
