Walter Lee "Bud" Thrift, 83, of Cowpens, SC, died Sunday, August 17, 2014, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born October 24, 1930, in Cowpens, SC, he was the son of the late Walter Houston and Lillie Mae Millwood Thrift. Mr. Thrift retired from Jennings Paint and Glass as a glass installer after 40 years of service. He was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. Surviving is his beloved wife of 62 years, Ola Belle Cooke Thrift; daughter, Darlene Gold (Tom) of Cowpens, SC; granddaughter, Leanne Gold Gottschalk (Dane) of Boiling Springs, SC; great-granddaughter, Dalea Gottschalk of Boiling Springs, SC; sisters, Shirley Phillips of Cowpens, SC, and Lucille Mills of Gaffney, SC; brother, Robert "Joe" Thrift (Barbara) of Spartanburg, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Hazel Lamb; and brother, Charles Thrift. Visitation will be 7:00-9:00 PM Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 20, 2014, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Rev. Chad Bowen.
