Walter Taylor, Sr.

Walter Edward Taylor, 88, of Spartanburg, SC and formerly of Kershaw County, died Thursday, March 17, 2016, at Brookdale Skylyn-Spartanburg. Born May 22, 1927, in Lancaster, SC, he was the son of the late Luther and Sara Hunter Taylor and husband of the late Susannah "Sue" Holloman Taylor. A U. S. Navy Seabees veteran, Mr. Taylor was retired from the U. S. Postal Service. He was a member of the U. S. Postal Letter Carriers Union, as well as a member and deacon of Oak Grove Baptist Church. Survivors include his son, Walter Michael Taylor and wife Myra of Spartanburg, SC; daughter-in-law, Sandra Taylor Moore and husband John of Trenton, SC; grandchildren, Meredith Kesler and husband John of Roebuck, SC, Mandy Lombardo and husband James of Grovetown, GA, Angie Bugbee of St. Johns, FL, and Wayne Pack of Inman, SC; great-grandchildren, Libby, Chloe, Will, Taylor, Jack, Joshua, Reese, Susannah, and Kinley; and his brother, Barney Taylor of Lugoff, SC. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his son, Donald E. Taylor; and seven brothers. Visitation will be 12:30-1:30 PM Monday, March 21, 2016, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Rufus Chaneyworth. Entombment with military rites by the U. S. Navy Honors Team, will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
