Walter Riser, Sr

Walter Glenn Riser, Sr., 91, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away Friday, April 11, 2014 at RoseCrest Health Care Center. Born January 18, 1923 in Chapin, SC, he was the son of the late Walter Ernest and Blanche Pearl Frick Riser and husband of the late Era Scott Riser. Mr. Riser was a graduate of Spartanburg High School and attended Spartanburg Technical College and Cecils Business College. He was retired as a clerk with the U. S. Postal Service and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. He was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Navy. Surviving are daughter, Sherran Sisk and husband Jerry and daughter, Nancy Odom; son, Glenn Riser, Jr. and wife Lisa; son-in-law, Glenn Smith husband of predeceased daughter, Kathy Smith; ten grandchildren, Scott, Amy, Mandy, Kimberly, Stephanie, Trey, Cory, Chad, Robbie and Phillip; eleven great- grandchildren, Madison, Noah, Cassidy, Claire, Caroline, Zeb, Wren, Archer, Lily, Paige, and Jake. He was predeceased by one brother, Francis Riser and one sister Miriam Davenport. Graveside services will be 12:00 NOON, Monday, April 14, 2014, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens,1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by the Rev. Michael T. Shackelford.
