Walter J. Mahoney, 74, peacefully departed from this world, on July 2, 2024, in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Walter was born on September 10, 1949, in Dearborn, Michigan, to the late, James Paul Mahoney and Pauline Alice Karch Mahoney.
Throughout his life, Walter had a love for all the arts and entertainment genres. An enthusiast at heart, he found joy in exploring various forms of creativity and expression. Walter had a deep appreciation for music as he enjoyed singing and was a talented pianist.
One of Walter's greatest passions was riding roller coasters. His thrill-seeking nature led him to experience many across the United States, with The Beast Cincinnati, Ohio holding the number one position. The adrenaline rush and sense of adventure he found on these rides brought him one of the greatest joys in his life.
He is survived by his loving husband, Daniel Hodnet of Spartanburg; devoted sister, Kathleen Boyd of Spartanburg; and his fur-baby, Sheba who brought him much comfort. Among those who preceded Walter into the afterlife is his grandmother Lucille Love, who held a special place in his heart.
Services for Walter will be held privately.
Walter's legacy of passion for adventure, music, and boundless creativity will forever remain a bright beacon in the hearts of all who knew him. May he rest in peace as he leaves behind cherished memories that will be forever treasured.
