Walter Cook

Walter Fay Cook, 65, of Spartanburg, SC, died Sunday, February 5, 2017, at his home. Born August 30, 1951, in Spartanburg County, SC, he was the son of the late Thomas Darlington Cook and Sarah Moore Cook. A loving husband, father, and family man, Walter never met a stranger and was a kind and generous soul. He cherished and entertained his friends with his great sense of humor and infectious laugh. Walter was a graduate of Spartanburg High School and attended USC-Upstate. He retired from Dearybury Oil Company and Associated Petroleum Carriers after 24 years of service and was a member of St. Christopher's Episcopal Church. Survivors include his wife, Kay Fincannon Cook; daughters, Kirby Cook Noone (John Mark) and Alice Cook, all of the home; grandson, Zane Noone; sister, Kathryn C. Scales (Ken) of Pacolet, SC; brothers, Thomas D. Cook of Spartanburg, SC, Leon M. Cook (Beverly) of Greenville, SC, and Kenneth O. Cook (Mary) of Spartanburg, SC; mother-in-law, Doris Beasley of Spartanburg, SC; a large number of nieces and nephews; and his beloved 18 year old Toy Poodle, Lucy. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 11, 2017, at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, by the Rev. Jim Trimble. The family will receive friends following the service in the church Parish Hall. Honorary escort are members of his Dearybury Oil Company Family.
