Walter Barrett Brown, 77, of 1705 Skyline Drive, died Sunday, September 12, 2010 at his home. Born February 8, 1933 in Woodruff, SC, he was the son of the late Ralph and Clara Godfrey Brown. He was retired from Collins Heating and Air and was a member of Beaumont Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and worked in the Sunday School Department. He traveled and sang with a gospel quartet for 20 years, loved hunting and fishing, and was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was the loving husband of 53 years to Barbara Cartee Brown; loving father to Danny Barrett Brown and wife Arlene of Spartanburg and Donnie Brown and wife Jenni of Boiling Springs; three brothers, Charles Brown of Spartanburg, Bobby Brown of Asheville, NC, and Gene Brown and wife Babb of Moore; three granddaughters, Lisa Brown Cox and husband Bradley of Inman, Jessica Brown of Campobello, and Amy Brown of Boiling Springs; three grandsons, Kody Brown of San Antonio, TX, Hunter Brown of Spartanburg, and Carson Brown of Boiling Springs; and three great-grandchildren. He was deeply loved and will be missed by his three brothers. Visitation will be 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at Beaumont Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Mike McGee, the Rev. John Cox, and the Rev. Rupert E. Guest. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Beaumont Baptist Church Building Fund, 945 Beaumont Avenue Ext., Spartanburg, SC 29303.
