Wallace Horne

Wallace "Wally" Osborne Horne, 83, of Spartanburg, SC, met his Lord and Savior on a beautiful Sunday morning, January 7, 2018, with a huge grin. Born October 29, 1934, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Dan and Eva Horn. A U. S. Army veteran, Mr. Horne played saxophone in the Army. He retired from Life of Virginia Insurance and was of the Baptist faith. Besides being a loving husband, father, and Papa, he enjoyed watching football, smoking his pipe, making people laugh, and he was always ready to go fishing, in hopes of catching the biggest fish. Wally was the husband of the lovely Madelyn Newsome Horne for 59 years. They loved each other with such understanding, compassion, trust, and unconditional love that rivals even the most wonderful fairy tale. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Gina Horne Williamson (Jerry) of Boiling Springs, SC and son, Paul Wallace Horne of Spartanburg, SC. He loved nothing more than being a Papa to his six granddaughters, Asia Morgan (Hunter), Jamie Williamson (Josh), Cassie and Lexi Williamson, Alexis Horne and Heather Johnston-Owens; and his seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers, George C. Horne and Melvin J. Horne, both of Spartanburg, SC. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Travis Lynn Horne; granddaughter, Sierra Lea Williamson; daughter-in-law, Toni Horne; and 16 siblings. We will forever be grateful for all the memories he gave us and the life lessons he taught us. Visitation will be 10:30-11:30 AM Thursday, January 11, 2018, at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel, 4161 Hwy 9 N, Boiling Springs, SC 29316, with funeral services following at 12:00 noon, conducted by The Rev. Dr. Delbert Tangeman. Burial will be in Good Shepherd Memorial Park, 4164 Boiling Springs Rd., Boiling Springs, SC 29316.
