Wade Norton, Sr.

Wade Roy Norton, Sr., of 290 Beacon Light Road, Spartanburg, died Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born May 12, 1943, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Roy and Marie Robbins Norton. Wade was a retired master electrician, a member of Clifton Masonic Lodge, a 32nd degree Mason, a Shriner, and a member of the IBEW. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Nancy Childress Norton, of the home; a son, Wade Roy Norton, II of Spartanburg; two daughters, Darla Joan Ellison and husband Michael of Boiling Springs, and Traci Coates Swaney and husband Kevin of Spartanburg; five grandchildren, Patrick and Olivia Ellison, Brandon and Cameron Coates, and Cierra Norton; a brother, Phillip Norton of Cowpens; and a sister, Mary Burgess of Lake Bowen. He was predeceased by brothers, Jerry and Caroll Norton and a sister, Faye Smith. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, May 13, 2011 in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Charles Hall. Visitation will follow at the graveside. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 154 Milestone Way, Greenville, SC 29615; or a charity of one's choice.
