W. Smith Thomas, Jr., 76, of Inman, died Tuesday, August 16, 2011, at his home. Born August 31, 1935, in Spartanburg County, he was the son of the late W. Smith Thomas, Sr. and Lois Seay Thomas. Smith was a mechanic for Freeman Gas Company for 43 years. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Frances Garrett Thomas; sons, Dwayne Phillip Thomas and wife Patsy, and Timothy Patrick Thomas and wife Leolynne, all of Inman; nine grandchildren, Chana, Timothy Jr. "T.J.", Trenton, and Tyler, and Brittney, Brandon, Crystal, Jessica, and Shala; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Richard Thomas of Fairforest, and Jimmy Thomas of Boiling Springs; sisters, Carolyn Matthews and Frances Campson, both of Spartanburg, Brenda Garrett of Pacolet, Janice Brown of Hendersonville, TN, and Sherry Reid of Campobello. He was predeceased by brothers, Jack and Jerry Thomas; and his sister, Aline Lark. Visitation will be 7:00-9:00 PM Wednesday, August 17, 2011, at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, August 18, 2011, at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Todd Johnson and the Rev. Alan Dean Blanton.
