W. Harold Powell, 79, of 104 Hilldale Drive, Boiling Springs, died Sunday, March 31, 2013, at White Oak Manor-Spartanburg. Born May 24, 1933, in Spartanburg County, he was a son of the late Wade and Marie Grigg Powell. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Korean Conflict. He was retired from Hess Oil Co., was a member of Sandy Springs Baptist Church, and was faithful viewer of the Jimmy Swaggart Ministry. In addition to his wife, Janelle Pinkard Powell, survivors include a son, Mike Harris; a granddaughter reared in the home, Kelli Bolling (Jeff) of Blountville, TN; four other grandchildren, Connie, Mikey, Erik, and Jackie; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Beulah Turner and Eula Arrington, both of Chesnee, and Velma Harrelson of Spartanburg. He was predeceased by a daughter, Sharon Bruce; brothers, Odie Powell and Edward Powell; and sister, Jeanette Moffitt. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at Fort Prince Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Phillip Bailey. Visitation will be at the graveside.
