W. Lattimore, Sr.

W. Wayne Lattimore, Sr., 88, of Spartanburg, died Sunday, April 15, 2012 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills-Landrum. Born September 15, 1923 in Duncan and raised in Hickory Grove, SC, he was the son of the late William Carson Lattimore, Sr. and Mamie Spencer Lattimore. Mr. Lattimore formerly worked with A. T. Sistare Construction Co. and was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church. He was a member of Lone Oak Masonic Lodge #372, Hezah Shrine #14032, Hillbillie Clan No. 2, Woodman of the World, and American Legion Post #228. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. Surviving are his wife, Bonnie Stephenson Lattimore, five children, Paula Blanchard (Warren) of Roebuck, Pam Patton of Moore, Wayne "Butch" Lattimore, Jr. (Mary) of Chesnee, Barbara Lewis (Darrell) of Chesnee, and Vonda Hammett (Danny) of Boiling Springs; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Caputo of York. He was predeceased by a grandson, J. Scott Lewis, a sister, Carmen Byrum, and six brothers, Blease Lattimore, Sr., Edley Lattimore, Joe Lattimore, Ned Lattimore, Henry Lattimore, and Bratch Lattimore. Visitation will be 6:30-8:30 PM Monday, April 16, 2012 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services with Masonic rites will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel by the Rev. James Ellis Griffeth and the Rev. Brian Arant. Entombment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Complex. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605 or Liberty United Methodist Church, 2095 Chesnee Hwy, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
