W. Calicutt, Sr.

W. Olin Calicutt, Sr., 87, of Spartanburg, SC, died on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at White Oak Manor. Born July 21, 1927, in Union County, SC, he was the son of the late Marion and Ethel Hyatt Calicutt. He was also predeceased by his wife, Virginia Corn Calicutt. Mr. Calicutt was retired from Packaging Specialty Paper Company as a sales representative. With his love for golf, he taught at Converse College for many years, and was also a golf professional and instructor at Huntington Hills Country Club for over 40 years. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, former member of the Civitan Club of Spartanburg, and a member of First Presbyterian Church. He was a friend to all that he met. Survivors include sons, William Olin Calicutt, Jr. of Valdosta, GA; Steven (Rosemary) Calicutt of Spartanburg, SC; granddaughters, Carrie C. (Tim) Pate of Valdosta, GA; MaryScott Calicutt of Knoxville, TN; grandsons, Steven (Elizabeth) Calicutt of Spartanburg, SC; Russell (Leslie) Calicutt of Greenville, SC; and great grandson, Steven Davis Calicutt of Spartanburg, SC. Graveside services will be 4:00 PM Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by the Rev. Joanne Hull. A Memorial service will follow at 5:30 PM at First Presbyterian Church, 393 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29302 with visitation following in the Church Parlor.
