Virginia Louise Blackwood Vaughn, 87, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away at her home in Boiling Springs, SC, on Thursday, April 22, 2010. Born October 22, 1922, in Union, SC, she was the daughter of the late Hydrick and Bertha Littlejohn Blackwood. Virginia was also a member of Sugar Ridge Garden Club, The Bank Ladies Club, and of the Presbyterian faith. Virginia is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Odell Wallace Vaughn, Sr.; two daughters, Patricia Vaughn Wootten and her husband Bradley of Woodbridge, VA, and Jo Vaughn Peavey and her husband Marion of Spartanburg; a daughter-in-law, Christine Vaughn Hilsky and her husband Robert Hilsky of Largo, FL; a sister, Frances Blackwood Mattison of Spartanburg; as well as her cousin and dear friend, Nancy Junkins and her husband Haskell of Spartanburg. She was predeceased by her son, Odell Wallace Vaughn, Jr. Virginia's true joy was her eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews she considered her children. Visitation will be 1:00-1:45 p.m. Sunday, April 25, 2010, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel conducted by her nephew, the Rev. James Robert Vaughn, Jr. Interment will be private. Pallbearers will be her sons-in-law, Marion Peavey and Bradley Wootten, grandsons, Alex Peavey, Geoff Mullins, Stephen Vaughn, Matthew Vaughn, and Mark Turner, as well as Haskell Junkins and Jimmy Mattison.
