Virginia Snelgrove

Virginia "Ginny" Lee Lands Snelgrove, 91, of Spartanburg, SC, died Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at her home. Born September 5, 1922, in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Walter Lee and Mamie Hurst Lands. A 1939 graduate of Spartanburg High School, Mrs. Snelgrove retired from BellSouth after 37 ½ years of service and was a former member of the BellSouth Telephone Pioneers. She was a charter member of Cudd Memorial Baptist Church and the Seekers Sunday School Class. She will always be remembered for her loving devotion to her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Survivors include her husband of nearly 72 years, Wilbur Earl Snelgrove; children, Gina Burns (Dennis) of Spartanburg, SC, Jack Snelgrove (Beverly) of Greer, SC, and David Snelgrove (Dianne) of Poplar Springs, SC; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by one granddaughter and her brothers and sister. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, August 22, 2014, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Rev. Danny Garrett. Visitation will follow at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cudd Memorial Baptist Church, 1301 Boiling Springs Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303; or Piedmont Hospice, 1865 East Main Street Suite F, Duncan, SC 29334.
