Virginia Kirby

Virginia "Jennie Ruth" Pickens Kirby, 89, of Spartanburg, SC, died Saturday, January 9, 2016 at her home. Born May 24, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Melvin Mashburn and Virginia Smith Pickens. She was also the wife of the late James Black "JB" Kirby. Mrs. Kirby was a member of White Stone United Methodist Church. Surviving are her daughters, Tina Holmes, of Spartanburg, SC; Elaine Ferraro (John) of Columbia, SC; Ruth Schoonover (Bruce) of Spartanburg, SC; grandsons, Michael Holmes (Piper); James Schoonover (Elizabeth); John Schoonover; granddaughters, Sandra Brewer (Marc); Christen Zeleznik (Dennis); Emily Broome (Josh); eight great grandchildren; and a special niece, Deborah Brandon. Graveside services will be 11:30 AM Monday, January 11, 2016, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by Mr. Allen McCallister. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice 1530 Drayton Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307 or White Stone United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 770, White Stone, SC 29386.
