Virginia Thompson Felmet, 93, a longtime resident of Spartanburg County, SC, died Monday, May 11, 2009, at NHC HealthCare in Johnson City, TN. She had lived in Johnson City since 2003. A native of Spartanburg County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Robert C. and Minnie Dewberry Thompson and the wife of 66 years to the late Rev. Glenn E. Felmet who passed away in 2000. A fulltime Pastor's wife and homemaker, she was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Spartanburg. Survivors include four sons, Harold D. Felmet and his wife Jeri of Johnson City, TN, Joe G. Felmet and his wife Lynda of Lyman, SC, Jerry W. Felmet and his wife Caroline of Duncan, SC, and Timothy E. Felmet of Rock Hill, SC; eight grandchildren; nine-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a granddaughter and her nine brothers and sisters. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 14, 2009, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Spartanburg conducted by the Rev. Monty King. The family will receive friends at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Mount Zion Baptist Church, 542 Mount Zion Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303; or to the charity of one's choice. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the NHC Healthcare staff for the loving care they extended to Mrs. Felmet. Thank you, especially Station 3, for the beyond the call of duty attention you extended to our Mother. You will always be a part of our family. Heartfelt thanks are also extended to Caris Healthcare Hospice for playing a vital part in assisting NHC during recent weeks. We will never forget your kindness.
