Virginia Ellis

Virginia "Jenny" Lee Byars Ellis, 76, of Cowpens, SC, died Wednesday, December 2, 2015, at her home. Born March 24, 1939, in Cherokee County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Ervin and Vyrle Virginia Byars. Mrs. Ellis was retired from Hoechst Fibers and of the Baptist faith. Surviving are her loving husband of 31 years, Harold R. Ellis of the home; children, David Bishop (Delores) of Roebuck, SC, Rick Bishop (Betty) of Spartanburg, SC, Tina Ledford (Rev. David) of Chesnee, SC, Terry Bishop of Spartanburg, SC, Rudy Ellis (Karen) of Gaffney, SC, Alicia Brown (Robert) of Landrum, SC, Derrick Ellis of Union, SC, and Kimberly (Donald) Greenway of Spartanburg, SC; 26 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sisters, Sydney Davis of Marion, NC and Linda Davidson of Gaffney, SC. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by sisters, Peggy Grainger and Helen Hampton; and brothers, Harry Byars, Jimmy Byars, and Donnie Byars. Visitation will be 10:30-11:45 AM Saturday, December 5, 2015, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 noon at the Chapel, conducted by her son, the Rev. Rick Bishop. Entombment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
